Yes, its been a while since my last post on my “official” author page but there’s an extremely valid excuse for that! Wait for it… the big revelation! LIFE IS FLIPPING CRAZY!! If you wasn’t hip by now, now I’ve filled you in! Since late 2011 not only has my personal life been dramatically turned upside down; my bubbling up literary life has been transformed as well. Of course all of this means juicy inspiration to write more, but I digress, this hopeful writer is a believer in following your dreams by keeping at your craft. Sure, we all know many people have lost dreams and aspirations as life attempts to derail us, veer us off in different directions, let other avenues or even people influence you to go against your heart. You end up losing what inspired us in the beginning. After my beloved father passed when I was fifteen, years later I discovered gems of his written poems stuffed away in filing cabinets. I was in shock, until that moment I had always felt my artistry channeled from my mother who paints exceptionally well. Dad never shared his hidden passion as I found out from my mother, aunts and uncles they had never knew this side of him. What would your ten-year old self like about your adult self? Do you enjoy where you are with your life currently? Unfortunately, not many of us say we can.
Of course a lot of this can be changed by a variety of factors such as connecting with your inner child, going back to school, changing careers, maybe even intensive therapy if that’s your thing. A lot of us keep faith in God that putting things in his hands you will be guided in ways that will be fruitful and meaningful in your life.
I’ve had to kneel and chat with God many times throughout this last tumultuous year or so as I’ve dealt with unemployment, evictions, lost of my license and a repossession, back-to-school aspirations are on hiatus and stressful personal dramas that have lifetime consequences (may find out details one day if a biography is warranted lol!). Trust, my little life has been nuts but still, I can thank God for my surviving relatively unscathed, my health and the well-being of my family. Over it all, I stay positive and kept my quest alive not only for the well being of my soul but to give something back to my family. Yes, it may seem a bit selfish but I believe by doing your best in life you should be able to reap the award by sharing with the ones you love the most. In that respect its not selfish at all. I want to have a legacy my children can be proud of and benefit from. I want to be in the position to also give back to my community, to be philanthropic.
I am, in my communication of literacy, attempting to make a connection with readers. I sincerely hope that something I share will have a profound effect on somebody, hopefully of course positive! Trust, I have many many stories ready to see the light of day be it drama, adventure, mystery, horror, comedy, sci-fi and more. In all of it, no matter the genre I have a few common themes woven inside; hope, inspiration and the underdog getting his day. Stories can transcend our given genres, cultures, pride and prejudices, and even our very existence. A great story will be around long after you have moved on to your next existence.
With my very first published story, brought to you courtesy of a sweetheart publisher named Aija M. Butler, debuting by her AMB publishing brand; we present ROAD KILL. While yes, its a grimy street urban tale which will be hard to digest for some; but trust and believe the aforementioned attributes are deeply interwoven. I sincerely hope if you’re familiar with my stories or my quest for publication over the years, you will give Road Kill a fighting chance. Those that know me personally know I’m sincere with my word and I try my best to treat others how I expect to treated. This manifests in my work as well. The justice. (Tagline)
Tragedy has the unmistakable task of finding you at your most vulnerable moment.
Two adolescent brothers’ lives are forever shattered by the untimely murder of their beloved mother at the hands of their disgruntled father who had accused her of an affair.
Fate takes the brothers on two separate, distinctive paths, forever shaping them to who they are as young men. When their paths rejoins thirteen years later, Rashon Turner is now a city dweller while Jaymon Turner lives a small town life, inspired in part by Aesop’s tale of City Mouse, Country Mouse.
Rashon is classified as an urban statistic, a young streetwise deviant, black and dangerous, ex-con on the run searching for some type of solstice.
Jaymon, once promising; is a silent statistic, an atypical lackadaisical youth lost and confused, disaffected “baby boy” attempting to find his path in life.
Two separate; but life-changing parallel accidents crashes both of their lives right back in tandem with catastrophic results.
Pushed by the law and dark forces wanting to crush their very existence, fate once again pushes two desperate young men on a bumpy but exciting new path to clear their names and find deeper meaning in their lives.
